Henchmen Guide – Hire, Equip, and Command Your Followers

Icon Controls
– Healers buff and keep the target healed.
– Tanks focus solely on this target.
– DPS henchmen prioritize this target.
Where to Hire Henchmen
Visit Mercenary Farms via portals in the Mage Tower or the Cleft of Shadows in Orgrimmar.
Getting Around
Henchmen follow, mount up, and even resurrect you. Use /stand to make them stay and /wave to resume following.
Note: They cannot teleport into dungeons unless grouped.
Using Equipment
Henchmen gear can be customized, with multiple chat window options: Auto-equip, Gear Slots, Unequip all, and Show inventory.
Important: Gear is automatically returned when dismissed or expired.
Using Roles
Roles include Tanking, Off-Tanking, DPS, Heal, Ranged, Gathering, and Looting. Configure via right-click > Manage roles.
Tip: Limit roles per henchman to avoid confusion unless class supports hybrid use (e.g. Priest).
Using Formations
Adjust follow/attack distance and angle under Manage Formation. Set distances from 0–100 (follow) or 0–50 (attack). Ranged bots can avoid frontal AOE.
Using Abilities
Henchmen cast spells by role. Use Manage abilities and Manage allowed abilities to toggle spells and update lists. Spells follow normal class level rules.
Using Talents
Talent selection is simplified. Use Manage talents to pick a spec, which persists and updates as they level.
Grouping
Form a group to unlock full henchman utility in DungeonFinder and group-only buffs.
Raid Groups
Some addons are needed to see bots in raids:
nUI
HealBot
OrlanHeal
Extra Commands
Depending on class, additional options like summoning tables, lockpicking, refreshing poisons, soulwells, pets, and consumables may be available. All bots have a universal You are dismissed option.
Henchmen Expiration
Bots expire after 48 hours of player inactivity. All gear is mailed back to the player on logout.
Extra Classes
Special unlockable henchmen like Spell Breaker, Necromancer, Sea Witch, Dreadlord, Archmage, and Obsidian Destroyer offer unique traits and powerful support or CC-based roles. Each has distinct class bonuses, visuals, and requirements.
